Tablet salt is used in the backwash process in water softening systems. The softening system's ion exchange resin (resin) reaches its saturation point after some time as it stores calcium and magnesium ions. At the next stage, the resin must be regenerated. In the regeneration process, sodium salts are needed. The resin tablet should be washed with salt to meet the sodium requirement.
